Watched finale & expected Nick to win though I liked Clark all season. The last few weeks Nick just seemed to step it up and his performances just had more energy & drive and I really like his song - very catchy and could really take off. Scott also said they would be hitting radio stations - an emphasis that was missing with Scotty & other artists. It will be interesting to watch and see what impact that has. It was good to hear he has a promotional game plan ready to go.

Didn't really know where to put this, but--- I have never watched a full episode of the Voice. But I just listened to some youtube videos of their latest winner Sawyer Fredericks. He is not just good but fabulous. He is just 16. He obviously does not subscribe to SHDC and has a somewhat John Denver smile. I think he will be a star for them. Pharrell was his mentor. One really good thing about the Voice performances I just watched is the contestant sings the full song. The short versions of songs on Idol has always irritated me, especially when they get up to the last few weeks. And the camera work skipping around also bothers me. Listen to his version of Old Man. www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sawyer+frederricks+old+manwww.youtube.com/results?search_query=sawyer+frederricks+old+man

My cousin alerted me to him just 2 weeks ago! I watched everything he did thru Youtube and ITunes has all his studio performances in one album for 9.99 like Scotty's was after Idol. I bought it and he is by far the best TV contestant since Scotty. Infact he reminds me a lot of him at 16...mature, musically gifted, older voice than his age, and such a great humble person! I think he will be the break out star the Voice has been looking for.

Jax has been hanging out a lot with Scott Borchetta. She sang the national anthem at the Indy 500. I bet he is signing her.

This is a picture of Jax and Reba at that race and Reba is one of Borchetta's artists.

Most want to get away from it.

Yeah Sawyer has said he has no plans to leave his farm on New York and move to LA. Just like Scotty said he has no plans to leave Raleigh to move to Nashville.

Ok Jonathan, I bought the album of Sawyer's Voice songs. You argued me into it. I think they are a better quality than Scotty's for AI. By the way Sawyer is on Republic which is a branch of UMG (not UMGNashville).

Many fans think he fits in the AAA (adult album alternative) format. It's a genre that mixes a lot of different genres. It's the main format Phillip Phillips is in. Phillip's singles did well in the AAA format and then they released it to pop. I think Sawyer appeals to a lot of genres such as folk, country, etc.

I don't think anybody will ever be of "better quality" for me. JMO. I'm just stubborn like that I guess.

That's cool you bought it! I know what you mean. The Voice obviously spent more money on the production side for Sawyer than UMG did for Scotty...surprise, surprise UMG.

Well since UMG is Sawyers label also, the spending must depend on Voice vs Idol, not the label. Of course it is UMG vs UMGNashville. Does the Voice have a tour like Idol? And do they take a cut of the winner's earnings as does 19?

And do they take a cut of the winner's earnings as does 19? The Voice (TV) recently started a tour. However, it's not necessarily for the season's contestants. It's basically a tour of a a few set TV alums from any season and then guest alums in various cities. TV has never disclosed it's contracts in the US. The show has taken criticism for it's foreign contracts which are really bad. For example, some countries TV takes 50% of all revenues of any contestants record sales & royalties of any song they record. This makes me think 19 isn't as bad as I think. However, I doubt these are the same contracts in the US. It's possible TV creator, Mark Burnett who also produces/creates other reality shows like Shark Tank does take a cut. For example, he gets a cut for any Shark Tank product so he could have a deal in place for The Voice contestants. But this is just stipulation since contracts haven't been revealed (including minors).

An excellent video, Reality Check, on MJs about The Voice and Idol. It's long but listen to all of it. It answered a lot of my questions. EX. The Voice not supporting it's winners, Idol's faults, etc. The link is www.mjsbigblog.com/idol-headlines-for-52615.htm Scroll down to the "Reality Check" video.

I'm just glad Scotty was on Idol and not the Voice. The winners never make it big after the show is over. There are even a few winners who never got to release an album. Even their best success stories(Danielle and Cassadee) come nowhere near to Scotty as far as success. Idol is the best launching pad as far as singing shows in the US(The X Factor UK does good for over there, plus they had One Direction).

I've never understood how the Voice is so huge when they have never had a mega star. Even Xfactor US's Fifth Harmony is now becoming big on Top 40 radio. One Direction is the single biggest reality singing show artist ever in the world, and they only came in 3rd! They play to multiple night Football stadium crowds and is the only other artist to come close to Taylor in album sales in today's market. Thank God Carrie won Idol when she did cause a decade ago it was much easier for contest winners and female artists. Same goes for Kelly Clarkson.

Yes, no big breakthrough stars, and it is interesting because most of the contestants on The Voice are a lot more experienced and polished, some have even been backup singers for big superstars. Yet, they cannot break through and get their careers to the next level. I am so very glad that Scotty went on American Idol. He was very much the next door neighbor, the unassuming kid with a superstar hidden inside just waiting to get a chance to break out, and boy did he ever!!!! It proves that it takes much more than a great voice to be an enduring star, it takes whatever it is that makes people want to know more about the artist than just what he/she sings, and actually spend time, energy and money supporting them, like we do!! There are tons of great singers in the world, yet so few make it really big.

Sawyer Fredericks is assigned to Republic records. Others on that label are Florida Georgia Line, The Band Perry, Raylyn, Eli Young Band, Zac Brown Band, etc. He should be in a good place for his career.

I have only watched the Voice a couple of times and I did enjoy the contestants performance. I think that the success of the Voice is primarily the judges, Blake and Adam. It would be interesting to see if viewership declined it Blake took a breakers
Blake appears to support the people he coaches. It's just so difficult for women in country music. I don't know about the other judges as I seldom listen to anything other than country, jazz and classical.
